Japanese toy company Bandai recently announced the release of the new DX toy product "DX Don Onitaijin" from the latest Super Sentai series, "Avataro Sentai Donbrothers," slated for May 28, 2022.
The Don Onitaijin is a colossal robot formed by the five Kijin Taro mecha, which are piloted by the five Avataro Sentai Donbrothers warriors. Its design evokes a Japanese armored samurai wielding twin blades. As the "first robot" to debut unusually late in Super Sentai history, the Don Onitaijin's design has been met with considerable praise. A key reason for this is the show's decision to utilize full CG for the robot's on-screen appearances, allowing for modern, tall, and slender proportions. The toy itself was developed with a strong emphasis on articulation, resulting in the largest DX Super Sentai robot toy ever, standing an impressive 36 cm tall.
The "DX Don Onitaijin" product includes the five Kijin Taro mecha, which transform from Don Momotaro, Saru Brother, Oni Sister, Inu Brother, and Kiji Brother. Through intricate mechanisms, they combine to form the incredibly cool-looking Don Onitaijin, featuring helmet and abdominal armor attachment, face transformation, and a chest crest deployment gimmick. This fully articulated figure boasts movable joints in its elbows, knees, feet, neck, and many other areas, allowing collectors to pose it in far more dynamic battle stances compared to recent DX Sentai robots!
