Kotobukiya's ARCANADEA Line Expands with Velretta and Yukumo Reveals!

Kotobukiya, the renowned Japanese model kit manufacturer, recently showcased the prototypes for the second and third entries in its new "ARCANADEA" Bishoujo plastic model series. Following the first release, Lumitea, these new figures, also designed by illustrator necömi, were revealed during the "KOTOBUKIYA COLLECTION EXTRA" online new product announcement event held on the 11th of this month.

The "Arcanadea" plastic model series is set in a near-future world blending sci-fi and fantasy elements. The lore centers around Eden Industries, which utilized newly discovered "Arcana Particles" – a next-generation energy source – to create the popular virtual space server "Eden." Within this server, the fantasy-themed Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online (VRMMO) game "Arcanadea" gained immense popularity.

However, a mysterious explosion at Eden Industries one day scattered "Arcana Crystals" – fragments that brought immense disaster to the world. These crystals not only caused strange phenomena globally but also ushered in unknown lifeforms from another dimension, known as "DEARS," possessing incredible powers. These DEARS, resembling fantasy creatures, are categorized into two types: those that harm humans and harmless ones that can coexist. Consequently, Eden Industries began recruiting "DEAR MASTERs" to work alongside the harmless DEARS in recovering the Arcana Crystals.

The second character, "VELRETTA," has had her colored prototype images revealed and is slated for pre-order soon. In stark contrast to Lumitea's angelic motif, VELRETTA embodies a completely opposite demonic design, reflecting a contrasting personality. Her outfit features a highly revealing aesthetic, complemented by articulated demon wings and a tail. Furthermore, she can be equipped with a large, petal-like skirt, additional wings, and a spear weapon. Intriguingly, the spear can combine with the skirt parts to form an adorable parasol.

The third character introduced is the beast-folk "YUKUMO," whose design masterfully blends the "Kitsune" (fox spirit) and "Miko" (shrine maiden) imagery often seen in Japanese mythology. Her fluffy, massive tail is undeniably charming. The unpainted prototype clearly showcases Kotobukiya's meticulous attention to detail in replicating the colossal tail, the large bell at her lower back, and the Shimenawa rope, all rendered with impressive fidelity for a plastic model kit. This level of detail has collectors eagerly anticipating the final product.

Additionally, Z-TON, a renowned manga artist celebrated for their non-human character designs, will be responsible for the fourth release, a centaur-type character.
