After teasing fans with a preview video for its new "Transformers" themed set featuring Optimus Prime, LEGO officially unveiled full details for the highly anticipated collaborative release, the "10302 Optimus Prime," last night (May 12)! It is slated for release on June 1, 2022.

The "LEGO 10302 Optimus Prime" set comprises 1508 pieces, building into a robot mode standing an impressive 35 cm (approximately 13.8 inches) tall. The design faithfully recreates the iconic G1 animation aesthetic with its familiar red and blue color scheme. The truck cab on his chest is rendered with transparent dark gray elements, while the Autobot insignias on his shoulders are expected to be printed bricks. The laser blaster, constructed from numerous black pieces, looks incredibly cool. Additionally, a jetpack can be mounted on his back, and with 19 points of articulation, this Autobot leader can strike a variety of heroic poses! The feet also offer excellent ground stability.
One of the coolest features of this LEGO model is its confirmed full transformation between robot and vehicle modes without the need for part swapping. The design cleverly utilizes joints and and reserved spaces to fold and tuck away the arms and head. The truck mode is incredibly sharp, measuring 27 cm (approximately 10.6 inches) long, with its blocky front end exuding a powerful presence. Accessories include a brick-built laser blaster, Energon Axe, Matrix of Leadership, Allspark, jetpack, and a display plaque. We can't wait to get our hands on this and experience the thrill of transforming a LEGO model!
▼ That truck mode is fantastic! Following the previous "Pyramid" set, it feels like LEGO has once again released a set that compels you to buy multiples, as both the vehicle and robot modes are absolutely superb!
