Japanese hobby manufacturer Kotobukiya has officially announced the launch of its brand-new pre-painted figure series, "Gensou Bijutsukan"! The first release in the lineup, "Verse01 Crystal Angel ARIA 1/7 Scale Figure," is slated for a December 2022 release.
The all-new original series "Gensou Bijutsukan" is a multi-faceted project that expands its world through various media, including "illustrations," "figures," "short stories," and "music." Alongside the figure's announcement, a short story provides background on the character's setting, and a dedicated theme song connects to the narrative. These elements are woven together into a music video, using visual and auditory storytelling to piece together a dazzling fantasy world.
The debut character, "Crystal Angel ARIA," features a character design by the popular Japanese illustrator Fuzichoco, with voice actress Rie Takahashi providing her voice and performing the theme song, "Kiseki no Uta." ARIA is the child of an angel who always repays her debts and possesses a voice with healing powers. However, having only recently awakened, her abilities are still weak—her halo is even still a triangle. The villagers, unaware of her true identity, see her as a normal girl living a comfortable life with her parents. She loves her mother's onion soup, the fresh fish her father catches, and all kinds of sweets.
The "Gensou Bijutsukan Verse01 Crystal Angel ARIA 1/7 Scale Figure" stands at approximately 26 cm tall. The sculpt masterfully captures the transparent quality of the original artwork, rendering her graceful and voluptuous curves with a blend of divinity and sensuality. An abundance of clear parts is used throughout, including her incredibly dynamic hair, wings, and the crystal base. These components are treated with a delicate gradient paint application to express a brilliant, translucent texture.
