Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, recently announced that its latest store-exclusive limited item, "MG 1/100 Gundam F90 [Clear Color]," is scheduled to go on sale starting June 11, 2022.
The F90-01 Gundam F90 is a new mobile suit developed in Universal Century 0111 as part of the "FORMULA Project" by the Strategic Naval Research Institute (S.N.R.I.) to miniaturize mobile suits. The F90 boasts characteristics such as a compact size and high output. It incorporates innovative micro-honeycomb structure technology to enhance armor strength and features a small, high-output Minovsky nuclear reactor. Its control computer can even simulate the personalities of Amuro and Char for combat. Despite its mere 15-meter height, it delivers performance comparable to previous Gundams, serving as a crucial foundation for the later Gundam F91 and Crossbone Gundam series.
The "MG 1/100 Gundam F90 [Clear Color]" is produced using the same kit as the regular version, meticulously reproducing the Gundam F90's form and color separation with MG-level high detail. Its distinctive "hardpoints" distributed across the entire body are faithfully recreated, allowing compatibility with various separately sold "Mission Packs" for expanded equipment. Furthermore, the upper body and hip joints feature multi-axis mechanisms to enhance articulation, enabling the F90 to strike appropriate poses regardless of whether it's equipped with close-combat, long-range, or other types of packs.
The limited clear color version replaces all the original white, blue, red, and yellow parts with transparent colors. Once completed, it not only showcases a unique high-translucency luster but also reveals the mechanical internal frame structure. This makes it more convenient for special customization techniques such as lighting installations or glow-in-the-dark paints, offering a distinct style compared to regular Gunpla.
