Seize Victory in Your Moment! Street Fighter 6 New System Information Revealed, Making its New Debut in 2023

A brand new evolution returns! On June 3, 2022, during the "State of Play" program, CAPCOM unveiled new information regarding its flagship 2D fighting game's latest installment, Street Fighter 6. This includes explanations of various systems and some character videos. The game is slated for release in 2023.

From the official video released by CAPCOM, the new WORLD TOUR mode appears to be reminiscent of popular open-world action games, making players anticipate what special in-game events will unfold.

Regarding characters, Luke, the last new character introduced in the previous installment, Street Fighter V, appears to be a major character with a significant role in this title. Another new character, Jamie, is dressed in Chinese-inspired attire and uses Chinese martial arts, quickly bringing to mind the series' twin brothers, Yun and Yang. Veteran characters Chun-Li and Ryu also return with new looks.

The DRIVE SYSTEM is the main new system featured in this game. The gauge is divided into two types: the DRIVE SYSTEM gauge and the Super Art gauge. Actions such as parries, Drive Rush cancels, EX Special Moves, and reversals will consume either 1 or 3 segments of the DRIVE gauge. Therefore, players must use it flexibly according to the situation to avoid depleting it to zero and entering a "BURN OUT" state.

This title introduces new changes to its control scheme. In addition to the traditional method of inputting special moves with directional inputs combined with light, medium, and heavy punch/kick buttons, there is now a "Modern Control Type." This allows players to execute various moves without needing to input complex commands, simply by combining directional inputs with a special move button. It can be described as a simplified input method, making it a friendly measure for new fighting game players.

The new BATTLE HUB mode, which appeared at the end of the promotional video, seems to be related to online play. No further information is currently available.

The game is scheduled for release in 2023, supporting platforms such as PS4/PS5, XBOX Series S/X, and Steam. For other related information, please refer to the official website.
