American toy manufacturer SUPER7, under its Toho-themed "ULTIMATES!" action figure series, will release new products for the second wave, featuring "Mechagodzilla" and "Burning Godzilla 1995" from Toho monster films. The suggested retail price is US$170 for the set, with an estimated shipping date in Q3 2023.
"Burning Godzilla" first appeared in the 1995 Heisei Godzilla series finale, "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah." Due to crustal movements, the high-purity uranium ore layer on Birth Island, Godzilla's habitat, dissolved. After absorbing excessive radioactive material, Godzilla's internal nuclear energy rapidly fissioned, and the cooling mechanism in his G-cells lost control, leading to an unstable state where a nuclear explosion could occur at any moment. Godzilla's body surface appeared red, burning, and glowing with an intense red light, a superheated state also known as "Burning Godzilla."
This "Toho ULTIMATES! Wave 2" set is the second series following Biollante. It includes Burning Godzilla 1995 from "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah," standing approximately 20 cm tall. The figure faithfully recreates its fierce head and intricate body textures, utilizing gradient red and yellow paintwork to depict its glowing, superheated body surface. It comes with interchangeable open-mouth/closed-mouth head sculpts, interchangeable left and right hands, and four white smoke effect parts to replicate its berserk state with smoke billowing from its body!
