According to information from the renowned American toy website BigBadToyStore (BBTS), Japan's GOOD SMILE COMPANY is set to release a new product in July 2022, a blind box series titled "Curse Box" (Noroi no Kobako), based on the masterpiece "Uzumaki" by Japanese horror manga master Junji Ito!
"Uzumaki," serialized from 1998 to 1999 in Shogakukan's manga magazine "Big Comic Spirits" and collected into 3 volumes, stars high school students "Kirie Goshima" and "Shuichi Saito." The story begins with strange phenomena they encounter, as their hometown, "Kurouzu-cho," appears to be afflicted by a "spiral" curse. A series of supernatural events, human mutations, and natural disasters related to spirals occur, progressively spiraling out of control.
According to the product images and information currently released by BigBadToyStore, the "Curse Box" series will feature 8 different designs. Classic characters from the series are sculpted in PVC at approximately 6 cm in size, presented in a monochrome style that better reflects the manga's artistic touch. Additionally, there is a low probability of obtaining a glow-in-the-dark version of "Azami Kurotani."
▼ Shuichi's father, obsessed with spiral patterns.
▼ Shuichi's father, transforming into a spiral within a large lidded wooden tub.
▼ Azami Kurotani, removing her hat to reveal her right forehead consumed by a spiral (Normal & Glow-in-the-Dark versions).
▼ Kirie bust, based on her appearance in the "Curly Hair" chapter.
▼ Classmate Katayama, transforming into a "Snail Person."
▼ Classmate Tsumura, transforming into a "Snail Person."
▼ The lighthouse lens from the "Black Lighthouse" chapter, brilliantly capturing the melted shape of the lens after being exposed to high temperatures and the intricate spiral patterns!
▼ The baby with mushrooms sprouting from its belly in the "Umbilical Cord" chapter has also been sculpted!
