The renowned Hong Kong toy brand "ACTION TOYS", under its "ES Alloy series", previously announced a prototype product for the classic robot anime "Beast King Golion" (Hyakujuu-Ou Goraion). It has now been confirmed that this product will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022! The suggested retail price is 1,160 Hong Kong Dollars.
Any long-time toy collector will undoubtedly be familiar with the name "Voltron". It actually comprises two robot anime productions by Toei Animation of Japan: one is "Beast King Golion" (1981), and the other is "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" (1982). Originally, these two anime were unrelated. Later, their rights were acquired by the American company WEP, and they were combined into a single work, "Voltron: Defender of the Universe". When introduced and broadcast in Taiwan, Voltron was translated as "聖戰士" (Sheng Zhan Shi), which is also the name most familiar to people in Taiwan.
Opening video for the "Beast King Golion" anime theme song, performed by Ichiro Mizuki:
This ES Alloy Golion released by ACTION TOYS faithfully recreates the character in an SD (Super Deformed) style. It can reproduce both the separated states of the five lions and their combined form. When combined, it stands approximately 15.5 cm tall. In terms of weapon accessories, it comes with Golion's signature weapon, the "Blazing Sword" (十王劍), a shield, a speed blade (光速刃), equipment mounted on each of the five lions, and their individual weapons, making for a very rich assortment. Friends who enjoy nostalgic robots will find this a worthwhile collectible.
