The renowned Hong Kong toy brand "ACTION TOYS", under its "ES Alloy series", recently announced the release of a prototype product for the classic robot anime 15-Vehicle Combination "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" (機甲艦隊ダイラガーXV). It has now been confirmed that the product will be released in Q4 2022! The suggested retail price is HKD 1,160.
For any long-time toy collector, the name "Voltron" will certainly be familiar. It actually encompasses two robot anime series produced by Toei Japan: one is "Beast King GoLion" (1981), and the other is "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" (1982). Originally, these two anime were unrelated. Later, their rights were acquired by the American company WEP, and they were combined into a single work, "Voltron: Defender of the Universe". When introduced and broadcast in Taiwan, Voltron was translated as "聖戰士" (Sheng Zhan Shi), which is the most familiar name in Taiwan.
Opening theme song video for "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV", performed by Seiji Yokoyama:
This ES Alloy Armored Fleet Dairugger XV from ACTION TOYS faithfully recreates the design in SD (Super Deformed) style. When combined, it stands approximately 17 cm tall. It can fully reproduce the 15-vehicle combination and separation states. Furthermore, it can also form three distinct modes: Air Team (Kuulagger), Land Team (Ricklagger), and Sea Team (Kailagger). In terms of weapon accessories, it includes its signature long sword, long spear, short spear, electromagnetic whip, and two shoulder-mounted disc blades (with two types), offering a rich array of options. For fans of Voltron robots, this is a highly recommended collectible.
