Today, the popular action figure series "S.H.Figuarts", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., announced the latest product from the tokusatsu series "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN", "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN", scheduled for release in November 2022.
Scheduled for exclusive broadcast on Amazon Prime Video in autumn 2022, "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN" is part of the 50th-anniversary project for Japan's popular tokusatsu series "Kamen Rider". With the theme of returning to its origins, it reboots the popular 1987 series "Kamen Rider BLACK", presenting the cruel fate and sorrowful story of brothers Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki through director Kazuya Shiraishi's new perspective. Popular actors Hidetoshi Nishijima and Tomoya Nakamura, known for their explosive acting skills, are invited to star as the two characters of the new generation.
The design of the Kamen Riders and monsters in the series was discussed by Kazuya Shiraishi, Shinji Higuchi, Kiyotaka Taguchi, and others, with the final designs completed by PLEX company designers such as Daisuke Kobayashi. Unlike the original BLACK, which featured a functional and bio-mechanical aesthetic, Kamen Rider BLACK SUN and Shadow Moon incorporate a large number of more realistic biological elements such as monster-like muscle lines, thorns, and carapaces, built upon their basic prototypes.
"S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider BLACK SUN" utilizes black parts to recreate the highly detailed, bio-organic design from the series, with transparent parts expressing the sharp and cool compound eyes. The intricate details on the belt are also meticulously crafted, and the glowing red lines across the body are rendered in metallic orange. The product also boasts S.H.Figuarts' long-cultivated articulation technology, allowing it to recreate transformation poses and battle scenes from the series with various interchangeable hand parts and a sword-type weapon.
In addition to the standard retail version, "S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider BLACK SUN" will also release a limited edition available exclusively on Amazon.co.jp. This limited edition will include all the original product contents plus a special bonus: a "dedicated display stand", which is generously sized and features the series logo, adding a more luxurious feel to the display.
