Editor: What does the name BOUNCE mean? Why did you choose this name for your debut?
BOUNCE:Graffiti artists often prefer names that are a bit edgy or fierce. I always thought: why does graffiti have to create such a distance from its audience? It should be possible to try something happy and lively, something that makes you feel the world is a better place! Later, the phrase "Let's bounce!" made the word "BOUNCE" feel special to me; it has a "let's get going!" kind of personality.

Afterward, I started to think about whether I should use the letters "BOUNCE" in my graffiti. I eventually decided to gradually transform the word into an image. Besides the fact that visual language requires no learning, images have higher recognition and a greater degree of personalization. So, I slowly developed the rabbit, the speaker symbols, and the bouncing lines, and the "BOUNCE" that everyone knows today gradually took shape.
Editor: What was your major in school? What kind of work did you do afterward? And when and how did you start creating with spray paint?
BOUNCE:I graduated from the arts and crafts department at Fu-Hsin Trade & Arts School, where I tirelessly honed my fundamental drawing skills every day. After much effort, I went on to the Department of Applied Arts at Fu Jen Catholic University. The clash between the vocational and university systems made me realize my shortcomings, but of course, it also made me aware of my strengths. After gradually strengthening my creative concepts and expressive abilities, I entered a related field after graduation. Although I worked incredibly hard and felt I was on the right track, due to family considerations, I once dramatically gave up this path and took a sales job... Two years later, I still couldn't forget my passion for creation and returned to the creative field.
In truth, my passion for creation and my network of contacts never faded, so the solid creative energy I had accumulated didn't disappear. That interruption only made me more certain that creation was the path for me.
Spray paint graffiti was mainly influenced by pop culture like music videos and movies. The idea that you could create art on the streets was a revelation! So I started in somewhat dark, inconspicuous places, using graffiti to turn the city's corners into stunning works of art.

Editor: Besides your own work, do you collect any other toys or items? Please share your collection with us!
BOUNCE:I mainly collect things related to my childhood memories. After all, you can never buy all the little toys, so I focus more on memorabilia with collectible value. It's more like fulfilling childhood dreams, for example... Star Wars armor, and this Ghostbusters movie prop (walks over to the prop). It can make sounds, it just can't actually suck in ghosts (he earnestly demonstrates for the editor...).

Editor: What are the mental differences between creating with spray paint and creating toys?
BOUNCE:Simply put, a toy can be seen as the physical embodiment of a creative character. It satisfies our imagination of that creation's real existence, giving a sense of true ownership. I think it's a bit like a spiritual anchor, similar to a statue of a Buddha or a deity! You buy it, put it on display, and admire it from time to time. Many of the toys released now aren't really meant to be played with by crashing them together like when we were kids.

Editor: Could you tell us about the creative concept behind this piece? Are there any particular features you wanted to emphasize or that you especially like in this collaboration? Were there any particularly difficult aspects?
BOUNCE:"Gui Shi" and "BOUNCE" inherently possess a beautiful aesthetic conflict between their different time periods. This time, I integrated "BOUNCE" elements—including the speakers, rabbit ears, and eyes—into "Gui Shi," and transformed the cloth attire into hard armor. As for difficulties, one was the process of turning a 2D concept into a 3D object, which required many adjustments to posture and balance. Another was the immense effort spent on the paint application. Even for the blind spots on the figure, I would twist my wrist to ensure the most perfect paint job!

Editor: Besides recreating the classic color scheme, what was the concept behind the colorways for the other two variants?
BOUNCE:You can start by looking back at the skateboard over there.

BOUNCE:Aside from the original "Gui Shi" color scheme, the other two are classic "BOUNCE" colorways: orange and fluorescent green. Combined with the integrated "BOUNCE" elements, it has become a "Gui Shi" figure that even I am reluctant to give away! Excuse me, can I really not keep one for myself?
Editor: Sorry... we'll take more photos of you with "Gui Shi"... please let go, we need to continue shooting the box photos...

Beneath the jet-black exterior of "Gui Shi" lie countless secrets. Its coolness, mystique, and rarity, now amplified by BOUNCE's touch, have resulted in a creation that even the artist himself can't bear to part with. If you're a player who loves "Gui Shi," how can you possibly miss out on this!
