Japanese toy brand BellFine, which has released numerous collectible figures, is scheduled to release in December 2022 a PVC figure of the protagonist, the Harvest Goddess "Sakuna" (サクナヒメ), from the game Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin (天穂のサクナヒメ), which won an Award for Excellence at the Japan Game Awards 2021!
The uniquely themed action game Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin (天穂のサクナヒメ), released in 2020, is a remarkably special and realistic game. Developed by the independent team EDELWEISS, this game combines traditional action gameplay with realistic rice-farming simulation, applying actual agricultural knowledge. As of June 2021, shipments had exceeded one million units. Players take on the role of Sakuna, the Harvest Goddess, who is highly capable but indolent. Due to a grave mistake that resulted in all offerings being burned, she is banished to the Isle of Demons with several mortals, where she must cultivate rice to sustain herself and defeat the demons inhabiting the island.
This Sakuna PVC figure from BellFine stands approximately 22 cm tall, and its design is based on Sakuna's appearance on the game's cover illustration. Sakuna's attire and the feathered raiment inherited from her mother are sculpted with a dynamic, flowing feel. She holds a massive hoe with both hands, and a broken sword is fastened at her waist. The rocks she stands upon cleverly serve as a footrest-like base. Her expression and the intricate patterns on her clothing are faithfully reproduced. The overall appearance is magnificent.
