Following the release of "Mei with Snivy," the "ARTFX J" series, produced by Japan's KOTOBUKIYA and featuring characters from Japanese anime, manga, and games, is once again revisiting the theme of "Pokémon Black 2 and White 2" after a long hiatus. They are launching the new "ARTFX J Kyohei with Oshawott" 1/8 scale figure, with a suggested retail price of 12,980 JPY, slated for release in December 2022.
Kyohei (default name, キョウヘイ) is the male protagonist players can choose in "Pokémon Black 2 and White 2." He is a boy from Aspertia City who, at the start of the game, embarks on a trainer's journey to complete the Pokédex and help his friend and rival, Hugh, find his stolen Purrloin. The origin of his name is generally believed to be a combination with the female protagonist's default name, "Mei (メイ)," forming "Kyōmei" (共鳴, meaning resonance).
The "ARTFX J Kyohei with Oshawott" 1/8 scale figure stands approximately 21 cm tall. It is meticulously crafted based on an illustration by Hitoshi Ariga (ありがひとし), the official illustrator for "Pokémon." The figure captures Kyohei in a dynamic pose, ready to throw a Poké Ball! His pose, with one leg raised and his body twisted, along with the details of his throwing gesture and his sun-hatted hairstyle, are all exquisitely rendered.
Furthermore, the accompanying Oshawott, instead of its usual cute smiling face, is depicted with a serious and fierce expression, unleashing its Razor Shell! The splashing water at the base is made from clear material, featuring layered, gradient colors.
