Japanese toy company Kotobukiya, in collaboration with renowned illustrator Shunya Yamashita, has finally officially unveiled today (30th) the full details for the first release in their "BISHOUJO" figure brand's "TRANSFORMERS BISHOUJO" series: the 1/7 scale PVC pre-painted figure of "Optimus Prime" (Convoy)! Both a regular edition and a Kotobukiya store-exclusive deluxe edition will be released simultaneously, with an estimated launch in January 2023.
Reimagined by Shunya Yamashita, "Optimus Prime" transforms from a tough machine into a beautiful girl, standing approximately 23.5 cm tall. The Autobot leader's signature red and blue colors are incorporated into a unique outfit featuring a short jacket, shorts, and mechanical-style long boots. The design that transforms Optimus Prime's eyes and the Matrix of Leadership into hair accessories and a necklace is also very interesting. Other "Transformers" elements include the Autobot LOGO printed on the jacket sleeves, a briefcase incorporating truck elements, and tires on the outside of the boots. Furthermore, this figure comes with an interchangeable masked head sculpt to display a different vibe, and the Autobot emblem base is also excellent! However, the best part is definitely the subtle "biting flesh" detail of the long socks.
▼ The deluxe edition will include an additional B5-sized acrylic display stand featuring Shunya Yamashita's illustration.
▼ Kotobukiya also announced today that "Bumblebee" will be the third release in the "TRANSFORMERS BISHOUJO" series, which looks super cute~ But first, let's look forward to the full announcement of the second release, "Megatron".
