Japan's official "Mobile Suit Gundam" Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, today announced the latest limited-edition product from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," the "Dummy Balloon Re-GZ / ν Gundam Equipped Type 1/144 Scale Soft Vinyl Model," scheduled for release starting July 16, 2022.
In "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," these two types of dummy balloons are deceptive equipment carried by the Re-GZ and ν Gundam, respectively. In space, by deploying balloons resembling the mobile suit's own shape, they can confuse enemy reconnaissance, and even lure them into misfiring at the balloons, wasting ammunition and revealing their own positions.
The "Dummy Balloon Re-GZ / ν Gundam Equipped Type 1/144 Scale Soft Vinyl Model" adopts a size similar to 1/144 scale Gunpla. It recreates the in-series appearance as a pre-painted soft vinyl figure, featuring intricate detailing on both the balloon's surface wrinkles and seams, capturing the texture of an inflated plastic balloon. It can be combined with separately sold Gunpla to recreate scenes from the series.
