Japan's renowned toy manufacturer Kaiyodo, under its action figure series "Amazing Yamaguchi" (アメイジング・ヤマグチ), will release the hero character "Hawks" from the currently serialized popular work "My Hero Academia". It is scheduled for release in December 2022.
"My Hero Academia" (僕のヒーローアカデミア) began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in 2014, and its sixth anime season will air in Autumn 2022. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a protagonist who dreams of becoming a great hero like his idol All Might but cannot awaken his "Quirk." After learning All Might's true identity, inheriting his Quirk, and enrolling in U.A. High School, he meets numerous characters and develops the story. The many distinctive characters and the slightly American comic-style exaggerated expressions in the original work are all factors contributing to its popularity.
Hawks, whose real name is Keigo Takami, is a hero in the original work ranked second only to Endeavor. He always appears with a welcoming smile and quickly rose to the top of the hero rankings at a young age. Later, to get close to the League of Villains, he was sent by the higher-ups as an undercover spy. In the Paranormal Liberation War, he fought against Twice and Dabi. Although he eliminated Twice, he was severely wounded by Dabi. In a critical moment, he was fortunately rescued by Tokoyami, who came to save his master.
This Hawks action figure released by Kaiyodo is also supervised by renowned sculptor Katsuhisa Yamaguchi. Standing approximately 19 cm tall, it almost perfectly recreates Hawks' appearance from the original work. Hawks' most prominent physical features, aside from his thick attire, are his two massive wings. Connected by articulated joints, the two wings can perform opening and closing movements. Furthermore, with additional accessories, it can replicate the appearance of his "Fierce Wings" Quirk activating, with feathers launching outwards.
Regarding expressions, this product includes three interchangeable face plates. Combined with the eye parts, the position of the eyeballs can be varied in eight ways, allowing for even more vivid expressions. Additionally, a goggle accessory can be freely attached and detached. The entire figure boasts as many as 32 points of articulation, allowing for a wide variety of poses and actions. Other accessories include items such as a handheld coffee cup, eight sets of interchangeable hand parts, feather blades used as weapons, and transparent acrylic parts to display the feather projectiles.
