Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, announced that to commemorate its 5th anniversary, it will launch the commemorative event 'THE GUNDAM BASE WORLD' at its Tokyo and Fukuoka stores starting July 23, 2022, and will release the commemorative product "MG 1/100 Unicorn Gundam (Light of Crystal Body)" in-store.
The Crystal Body form of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam appeared in the final episode of the OVA version. It is the ultimate form generated by Banagher to defend against the colony laser by deploying an unprecedentedly large psycho-field. His Newtype abilities and the Unicorn Gundam's affinity reached their limit, almost merging into one, causing the psycho-frame to undergo changes even Anaheim Electronics had not anticipated. According to author Harutoshi Fukui, this form can be called the "God of Possibility," capable of using the psycho-field to self-destruct missiles, restore MS engines to their pre-assembly state, and there were even ideas of it performing various miracles such as "making all armies in the Earth Sphere disappear and rendering all weapons unusable."
"MG 1/100 Unicorn Gundam (Light of Crystal Body)" is based on previously released MG kits, replacing the white exterior armor with light green parts molded using GLOSS INJECTION technology to replicate the appearance of green light reflecting on white armor. Newly designed crystallized psycho-frame parts have been added, capable of reproducing the high-density crystal forms emerging from the psycho-frame gaps across the entire body. The hands are crafted using the fully articulated "EMOTION MANIPULATOR SP". Additionally, the product includes a glitter-molded base to represent a space scene.
