✨【Art-Class Challenge EP0】Jujutsu Kaisen 0 - Major Customization of the Japan-Exclusive Rika Drink Holder! The "Pure Love" Process Revealed!

Hello everyone, we are “Art-Class Challenger Toy Player,” custom painters and sculptors from Taiwan.

This is our very first YouTube video, and we've invited Brother Niu, who has always taken great care of us, to do the unboxing!

A huge thanks to Brother Tie Niu for taking time out of his busy schedule to unbox for us, giving our channel's first video the blessing of Brother Jie!

✨First, an apology to our followers! The two of us haven't posted our work on Facebook for a long time!
That's because for the past few months, we've been busy preparing camera equipment, sound recording, lighting, scripts, and content.
It took us 3-4 months to finally get the studio set up!
I even bought paint and repainted the studio myself, haha.
((Whispering: It's a personal habit—I can't say it's prepared to perfection, but it must at least be complete!)
We want everyone to see that we've put a lot of heart into planning the content for this channel~
✧*。٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و✧*。 Today, we officially announce our channel name to everyone!
!!! We are called 'Art-Class Challenger Toy Player'!!!

▋Why "Challenger"?
It's because we want to try and challenge ourselves with things that look "cool and interesting."
So, we will record these processes and share them with all of you!
We also welcome everyone to make a wish and tell us what kind of customizations or repaints you'd like to see!

~~Documenting Brother A Hsien's original sculpts and custom works
~~And sharing Eddie's painting process

P.S. If you want to see us challenge any kind of project, feel free to leave a comment on YouTube!

▋Realistic Eye Painting Process:

~~Base coat with acrylic paint

~~
Positioning the circle

~~
Centering the pupil

~~
Then, fill it in like how you drew the sun as a kid,
with lines radiating from the center.
Slowly and carefully fill it up completely!

~~
Then, for the entire iris, I used an airbrush to spray the base colors
for the inner and outer rings.

~~
Painting a galaxy-like effect circling the center of the eye.

~~
But after finishing the whole thing, I felt
the outermost layer of the eye was too dark, making it look like cosmetic contact lenses.

~~
So I later added a wash of a deeper reddish-brown
to replace the original black-blue on the outer edge of the iris,
and added a bloodshot effect.

✨However, if I get another chance to paint realistic eyes,
I believe I can do even better.
Those who frequently commission me for repaints
should know that I design details based on the anime and manga.
After I finished, I thought to myself, "Oops, the bloodshot veins shouldn't have been so manga-like."
But I'll leave that for improvement next time I get the chance XD.

▋Now, let's talk about Yuta Okkotsu.
I have some ideas about the lighting and shading this time that I'd like to share with everyone.
After referencing the anime, I noticed that the "expression of Cursed Energy" doesn't actually have a reflective light effect.
This is a practice I wanted to try for myself~
~~First, let's distinguish the texture that "seems to have light" coming from below.
But that's not meant to show light shining on him from the bottom up.
It's more like a representation of "charging up, gathering energy, overflowing power,"
presented on the 'underside highlights of the arms, palms, and similar areas.'
So I call it a "bloom effect"—an expression of overflowing energy~
~~Next, the Cursed Energy flames on the sword are reflected on the
'hair, side of the face, chin, shoulders, and down to the back.' This is the true representation of light.
I call this the "firefly painting" technique, which is the practice I mentioned earlier!
P.S. It would be super weird if Rika didn't also get the light and shadow treatment, so I did them both together!
Now, some might call this a 2.5D style.
But for me, this is simply "light and shadow rendering practice."
It hasn't reached that jaw-dropping level of depth yet.
But of course, I am referencing the master from across the strait, 'Xiao Feng of the North,'
for this challenge and practice~ But I wouldn't dare call my work 2.5D yet, haha.
I don't think that level is unattainable for me,
but the road is long, there's much to learn, and I'm still far from it~~~
In short, it's all about 'learning by doing, and doing while learning.'

▋Yuta Painting Process:

~~Confirming the look in his eyes

The face was also repainted to match his appearance later in the main story.

~~
The lighting this time was a rather bold attempt.
I pushed the contrast between light and dark very far.
From the initial gray and white base coats, I was already establishing the levels of light and shadow.
Then, I used black paint to sketch out the exact positions I wanted for the highlights and shadows.
After that, I used an airbrush to spray these areas to enhance the lighting effect,
which gives it a more visually striking sense of light.

~~The concept for the "bloom" energy is that it emanates from below,
extends to the flames on the weapon, and then reflects onto his body as the "firefly" effect!
