Following the surprising commercialization announcement from HOBBYMAX (HOBBYMAXJapan), an emerging figure brand from Shanghai, China, the sales information for their 1/8 scale figure of "Komatsu Nana" from the classic shojo manga "NANA" was finally revealed today (the 19th)! The suggested retail price is 21,450 JPY, with an estimated release in July 2023.
Japanese manga artist Ai Yazawa's shojo manga series "NANA" tells the story of two girls both named Nana. The innocent and adorable Komatsu Nana (小松 奈々) and the independent and strong Osaki Nana, despite their vastly different personalities, are unexpectedly compatible. They support each other through the complexities of love and dreams, pursuing their aspirations and romance together. The diverse topics and rich themes of the story are cherished youthful memories for many born in the 70s and 80s. However, the series has been on hiatus since 2009 with no news of its resumption, making it a prominent title on the "lifetime wait" list.
The "HOBBYMAX Komatsu Nana" 1/8 scale figure stands approximately 22 cm tall (excluding the base). The overall design is based on the next issue preview illustration from the December 2002 issue of the shojo manga magazine 《Cookie》, presenting a marshmallow-like Nana in a pure, cute, and soft outfit. Her ensemble, featuring a turtleneck vest layered with a mustard-yellow polka-dot sweater, remains stylish even after 20 years. Details such as the skirt hem, the fringes on her over-the-knee boots, and the textures of various clothing materials are meticulously sculpted. Nana's sweet smile and the blooming sunflowers on the base complement each other, creating a warm and sunny atmosphere~
