Japanese sculptor Harigiri Souichi recently unveiled the painted prototypes for three new GK model kits: "NIJISANJI Higuchi Kaede (Spring Outfit)", "Dark Souls 3 Dragonslayer Armour", and "Elden Ring Pot Boy". These kits will be sold in limited quantities under a one-day license at Wonder Festival 2022 [Summer], held on July 24th, at booth number 4-03-08.
Harigiri Souichi, currently 33 years old, began sculpting in 2008 and participated in WONDER FESTIVAL as an amateur sculptor under the name "G-Rug" in 2011. He is capable of sculpting a wide range of characters, from beautiful girls like those in "Touhou Project" and "Kantai Collection" to the dark fantasy characters from FromSoftware's Souls series. His courageous and challenging spirit has led him to tackle various characters and make rapid progress, officially becoming a professional freelance sculptor in 2018. Furthermore, during the years of the COVID-19 pandemic, he learned ZBrush, transitioning from traditional analog sculpting to digital modeling with astonishing talent. The three works released this time also utilize digital sculpting and incorporate a majority of 3D printed parts.
・NIJISANJI Higuchi Kaede (Spring Outfit) Reference Price: 17,000 JPY
After transitioning to digital sculpting, Harigiri Souichi's first bishojo-style GK model kit is Higuchi Kaede, a popular LIVER from the Japanese virtual YouTuber agency NIJISANJI (Nijisanji) and also a singer under Lantis. This figure features a fashionable spring outfit paired with elegant afternoon tea accessories, a departure from her usual image as a foul-mouthed delinquent. The extremely smooth and elastic-textured hair parts and gentle expression convey a mature beauty. Her relaxed yet elegant sitting pose, hands tucked into pockets, and delicate hands gently lifting the teacup are also major highlights.
The rich afternoon tea accessory set next to her utilizes numerous resin 3D printed parts to recreate exquisite tea sets, a variety of desserts like macarons, and objects such as vases and flowers. The metallic decoration on the table's edge is even more ingeniously designed, incorporating the imagery of the other three members of "Onigiri Shiki" (Rice Ball Four Seasons): Tenjin Kotone, YuNi, and Fuji Aoi, within its pattern.
・Dark Souls 3 Dragonslayer Armour Reference Price: 30,000 JPY
The Dragonslayer Armour, wielding a massive axe and greatshield, is an ancient armor controlled by the Pilgrim Butterflies within Lothric Castle. Harigiri Souichi meticulously recreates the heavy forms of the armor, great axe, and greatshield through digital sculpting. Its powerful stance, with one foot stepping onto a stone stair, is awe-inspiring. The armor's surface is further etched with biological-like scale patterns and vascular details, reproducing the texture as if made from dragon materials. Additionally, both the helmet plume and chainmail parts utilize resin 3D printed components, delicately capturing the dynamic, wind-blown shape of the adornments and the high-density, interlocking iron rings.
・Elden Ring Pot Boy Reference Price: 8,000 JPY
The highly distinctive race of Pot Boys from "Elden Ring" features meticulously sculpted patterns on the pot's surface, the Erdtree engraving on the top lid, and extremely realistic weathering and damage marks. The limb sculpts also largely reproduce their in-game appearance, as if formed from pot fragments mixed with soil.
