LEGO's "ICONS" series, which targets adult consumers, announced its latest product yesterday (19th) evening: the "10306 Atari 2600" brick-built gaming console model! It is scheduled for release on August 1, 2022.

Following the sensational "71374 Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) & Retro TV" released in 2020, LEGO once again creates a new masterpiece based on a classic gaming console. This time, the star is the "Atari 2600," a home console that was all the rage in the 80s! However, for Taiwanese players, the Atari 2600 might be a relatively unfamiliar gaming console. We believe many toy enthusiasts only became interested in this old classic after watching the movie "Ready Player One."
This set contains a total of 2532 pieces, and once assembled, it measures 33 cm in length. It not only precisely recreates the "Atari 2600" console's exterior with black and brown bricks but also fully restores the various switches, cartridge slot, and the black joystick with its single button and control stick. What's even more amazing is that sliding open the console's top cover reveals a scene of a child playing the Atari 2600 in a room! The miniature console, joystick, and retro TV are all adorable, and the posters on the wall are full of homage elements.
Next are the three classic game cartridge models included with the console. From left to right in the image below, they are "Adventure," "Centipede," and "Asteroids." In addition to reinterpreting the cartridge artwork in LEGO style, the set also features mini scenes designed according to the game content and a storage rack for the cartridges. Overall, it's an excellent piece that combines nostalgic retro charm with intricate design; however, it would have been even more perfect if it had included the "E.T." game cartridge XD.
