Crazy Threats from the Multiverse, Arriving in Droves! Hasbro Transformers Generations 'Legacy Series' Second Wave Unboxing Report

The Transformers Generations series, launched by the internationally renowned toy manufacturer Hasbro, has entered a brand new 'Legacy' series this year. Its all-encompassing concept not only includes and remakes classic G1 characters from the past, but also allows characters from different universes and stories to be reborn within the Legacy series. Whether it's fully enjoying the creative transformation process, playing with them as articulated robots, or immersing oneself in the imaginative flight and speed of their vehicle modes, both seasoned players familiar with various works and newcomers just stepping into this vast world are sure to deeply experience the unique and extraordinary charm of Transformers Generations during play!

Following the first wave unboxing a few months ago, today we bring Transformers fans the second wave of the Legacy series. Before we officially begin, let's quickly review the features of the Legacy series!

● Multiverse Characters Join the Fray: As mentioned, previous Generations series mostly featured G1 characters. The Legacy series breaks this rule by introducing characters from other stories, such as the vibrantly colored G2 universe, and 2010's "Transformers: Prime" (hereinafter referred to as Prime), adding more diverse variations to the classic product line.

● Magnificent Energon Weapons: Most characters in the Legacy series come with exclusive Energon weapons, made from transparent plastic. These can be connected and played with via the 3mm and 5mm ports of the Cybertronian Omnifunctional Modular Battlefield Assault Tech (C.O.M.B.A.T.) system from the previous War For Cybertron Trilogy. The expandable combinations between weapons also greatly test players' creativity and ingenuity.

● Reduced Plastic Eco-Friendly Packaging: In response to global trends, the Legacy series adopts a more environmentally friendly packaging format. Not only has the transparent plastic window been removed from the outer packaging, but the internal plastic bubble shell has also been replaced with plastic ties and cardboard for securing the figure.

● Paperless Character Introductions: Unlike the previous method of printing information on the back of the box, the Legacy series uses a new QR code. When players scan the unique QR code on the box, they can directly view the character's abilities and introduction on the official website. The language also varies by region!

▼ The protagonists of this unboxing report include two miniature Core Class figures, four Deluxe Class figures, one Voyager Class figure, one Leader Class figure, and one large Commander Class figure.

▼ "G2 Megatron" (G2 Universe Megatron): The eternal Emperor of Destruction and spiritual leader of the Decepticons. In the G2 universe, he transforms into a camouflage-painted green tank. This Legacy version is a recolor of the Kingdom Core Class figure.

▼ In keeping with G2 tradition, this Legacy version has been changed to a vibrant green and purple camouflage. Since the mold is directly reused from the Kingdom version, it does not recreate the original G2 toy's design where the tank's front directly formed the chest.

▼ The articulation is the same as the earlier Kingdom G1 version, and even at its small size, it can still convey the Emperor of Destruction's intimidating presence.

▼If placed alongside the first wave's invincible Commander Class G2 Laser Optimus Prime...

▼Tank mode. The turret, like the Kingdom version, boasts excellent horizontal rotation and elevation articulation. Notably, the emblem on the side of the vehicle's front is the authentic G2 Decepticon insignia!

▼"Shockwave": A Decepticon scientist loyal only to logic. In the G1 story, he remained on Cybertron for Megatron, continuing to purge the remaining Autobot members. The Legacy version gives him an alien battleship mode similar to the Siege version, and includes a handheld radar/energy shield.

▼At first glance, it resembles the 2016 Combiner Wars Legends Class, but the detailing is actually closer to the Siege aesthetic.

▼Thanks to the ball joint designs throughout, even at this small size, it can strike a variety of dynamic poses.

▼With this, the major figures considered the "Four Heavenly Kings" of the Decepticons are finally gathered in Core Class. All hail Megatron!!

▼Battleship mode. The transformation mechanism is very similar to the aforementioned Combiner Wars version. The energy shield can be equipped at the rear of the bridge to become a radar.

▼Veteran collectors who are dissatisfied with this "ship" mode, don't fret. The designers have still retained this hidden 5mm handle. Flip it down, and it transforms into the original rifle mode for other Transformers to wield.

▼"Elita-1": A female Transformer originating from the G1 animation. Formerly Ariel, she and her beloved Orion Pax were severely wounded by Megatron. They were rescued by the Arialbots who traveled back in time and underwent modifications by Alpha Trion, being reborn as Elita-1 and Optimus Prime. After Optimus Prime led the Autobots aboard the Ark to Earth, Elita-1, as the leader of the resistance, commanded a group of female Autobots to defend Cybertron against Shockwave and the Decepticon incursions. This Legacy version is an all-new mold, attempting to restore Elita-1's appearance. It includes two energon rifles and gives her a Cybertronian off-road vehicle mode that was never fully seen in the animation.

▼The robot mode's physique and color scheme complement each other perfectly, effectively highlighting Elita-1's feminine qualities.

▼The head sculpt is excellent, with delicate facial features and an animation-accurate helmet design that are both quite beautiful.

▼The two energon rifles can be held in both hands, combined into a double-barreled rifle, or even used reversed as a staff.

▼The Legacy version's original Cybertronian off-road vehicle mode features transparent parts for the windows, which is a striking detail. Weapons can also be mounted on various parts of the vehicle via the C.O.M.B.A.T. system's 5mm ports.

▼The headlights on the roof, resembling Elita-1's head, have a very strong presence. Yes, Optimus, your "big sister-in-law" is always watching you, so you'd best not do anything naughty.

▼"Prime Universe Knock-Out": The Decepticon medic from "Transformers: Prime," skilled in surgery, dissection, and disassembly. He often operates alongside his powerful partner Breakdown (also translated as 'Pāomáo' or 'Sǐhuǒ'). Knock-Out himself places great importance on his appearance, even disregarding the opinions of his Decepticon comrades, choosing a luxurious sports car as his alt-mode. Furthermore, for survival, he can quickly become a turncoat, turning his weapon against former allies. This Legacy version is a heavily re-tooled Studio Series Jazz, transforming into a vehicle resembling an Aston Martin One-77, and includes a detachable energon battle spear.

▼Although it lacks the signature ornate high collar from "Prime," the iconic helmet and long spear still make Knock Out's classic features recognizable.

▼The head sculpt retains the classic streamlined crown and adds detailed etchings in the style of the classic generations.

▼The Electro-Stun Spear, highly active in the animation, can be disassembled into a rifle and a transparent gray energon shield, offering more diverse display combinations.

▼In sports car mode, although it reuses the mold from the Studio Series Jazz, the exterior of the car shell has undergone extensive modifications, making it almost impossible to feel the shared mold in terms of appearance. Weapons can also be attached via 5mm ports.

▼In addition to the striking red paint and yellow wheel rims, Knock Out's beloved body decals are, of course, indispensable, and they are reproduced here using tampography.

▼Tarantulas (also translated as 'Wolf Spider,' see note), a Predacon member from "Beast Wars" (formerly known as "百變金剛" in Taiwan), arrived on ancient Earth aboard Megatron's ship. He is a technical genius with a talent for modification and invention. However, hidden behind the guise of a mad scientist is his true identity—an undercover agent for the Tripredacus Council, not only monitoring Megatron's actions but also secretly guiding the direction of the war. This Legacy version of Tarantulas, quite unexpectedly, does not follow the pattern of being a recolor and retool of the original version and Kingdom's Blackarachnia. Instead, it is a completely new mold, faithfully recreating his animated beast-mode spider and robot form, and comes with a crossbow and a Transmetal buzzsaw as weapons.

Note: Here's a little science popularization tidbit: The root of "Tarantulas" comes from the scientific name of the tarantula family—Tarantula, which is a different spider from the wolf spider family (Lycosidae, commonly known as Wolf spider). Therefore, the following text will continue to use the translation "紅蜘蛛" (Red Spider) as it was broadcast in Taiwan back then.

▼The robot mode faithfully recreates its appearance from the original 3D animation, with its menacing, clawed spider legs being very eye-catching.

▼The head sculpt adopts the design seen in the animation, which also serves as the variant mask of the original toy.

▼The crossbow and buzzsaw can be held separately or combined into a single weapon. Coupled with the vivid four pairs of legs, its presence in action is still quite impressive.

▼In beast mode, it recreates the purple and yellow tarantula appearance. The height of its body can be adjusted via the ball joints in its legs, and the robot mode's hands transform into pedipalps, making it even more menacing.

▼The unique yellow pattern on the abdomen and the texture of the chitinous exoskeleton are very well presented. Both weapons can also be stored at the bottom and tail end in this mode.

▼Once he sets his sights on you, you're destined to become an inescapable prey. Such is the simple, unpretentious, and perhaps even monotonous, joy of a spider.

▼Wild Rider (originally Wildrider, also translated as 'Reckless'), a member of the G1 Stunticons team, is undoubtedly the wildest sports car on the road. He combines with his teammates to form the massive combiner "Menasor." This Legacy version faithfully recreates his G1 animated appearance, transforming into a dark gray sports car resembling a Ferrari 308 GTB, and comes with two pistols as weapons.

▼In robot mode, like most car-based Transformers, the backpack is formed from the car's front. Here, the designers' ingenuity has added some splitting mechanisms, preventing the visual appearance from being too monotonous.

▼The head sculpt clearly adopts the appearance from the animation, with the prominent ears being a signature feature.

▼The twin pistols can be held one in each hand, or combined into a single double-barreled rifle.

▼Two-fifths of the Stunticons! The return to G1 styling is truly enough to bring tears to the eyes of veteran fans!

▼Sports car mode, faithfully recreating Wildrider's classic color scheme. The car windows, made from transparent red plastic, are absolutely beautiful. An extra reminder here: be careful with the pivot joints when transforming the legs, as excessive rotation can easily cause plastic stress marks.

▼Just like his comrades, the twin pistols can also be mounted on the car roof. Are you ready for some high-octane action on the highway?

▼"G2 Jhiaxus" (also translated as Overlord or Zarzas): A character who only appeared in the comic book world. In the G2 comics from the Marvel era, he was born through a method of budding and fission, almost forgotten by Cybertronians. Weary of the Autobot-Decepticon civil war, he left Cybertron and established the "Cybertronian Empire." Jhiaxus created his own army through fission, embarking on extreme massacres and colonization of other planets deemed as lower life forms, making him a rather infamous tyrannical dictator in the G2 comics. In later IDW comics, he transformed into a mad scientist who cared only about technology, disregarding ethics. Behind the glorious era of Nova Prime, he conducted various immoral experiments, such as combining Transformers and gender reassignment, offering a completely different interpretation of the character. This Legacy version draws inspiration from the G2 comic design, being closer to the original appearance compared to the 2014 version. It can transform into an alien jet and comes with one rifle and one pistol.

▼Recreating the classic comic book color scheme, the green wings on the back and calves are also a great homage to the original design. The twin pistols can be mounted on the back. As a fun fact, the name "Jhiaxus" actually originated from a jest by artist Simon Furman towards the publisher at the time. Anticipating that Marvel might cancel the comic, he directly combined "Gee, axe us" into the word "Jhiaxus."

▼The head sculpt, needless to say, perfectly captures the era-appropriate villainous features.

▼Surprisingly, the hands feature articulated open-palm joints.

▼The pistol and rifle can be held separately or combined into one. Coupled with the aforementioned articulated hands, you can achieve very natural gun-holding and shooting poses.

▼The jet mode is largely designed based on the G2 comic appearance, with weapons capable of being mounted beneath the nose or on either side of the fuselage.

▼To see this tyrant resurrected in his original G2 form in the Generations Selects series, one simply has to give the designers a huge thumbs-up!

▼"Blitzwing," one of G1's most famous Decepticon Triple Changers. His warlike nature allows him to freely transform between robot, jet, and tank modes, making him arguably the most efficient and insane warrior on the battlefield. This Legacy version is an entirely new mold, faithfully recreating Blitzwing's appearance from the G1 animation. His signature triple-changing mechanism is, of course, present. In addition to two rifles and his classic great sword (made of soft plastic), the included weapons also feature a pair of Legacy-original energy missile launchers/giant hands.

▼The design is undoubtedly inspired by G1's iconic look, including the yellow helmet, red visor, chest pattern, rifle, great sword, and tailfin-mimicking footplates. For veteran fans, this is truly... incredibly satisfying!

▼Head sculpt. The only regrettable point is the noticeable mold line on the eyes; without it, it would be even more perfect.

▼The Legacy Edition's original energy giant fists can be equipped on both hands in robot mode to become gauntlets.

▼A pair of rifles and a great sword allow for a wide variety of pose combinations, letting one fully experience Blitzwing's firepower.

▼First vehicle mode - Tank Mode. The turret features rotatable and elevatable articulation. Furthermore, the faux cockpit beneath the front of the vehicle perfectly echoes the G1 original animation's design. Whether this is good or bad, I believe, is a matter of personal opinion.

▼The energy giant fists can transform into energy missile launchers at this point, equipping them on both sides of the turret to enhance the tank's anti-air capabilities.

▼Second vehicle mode - Jet Mode. The design resembles the Soviet MiG-25 Fighter. At this point, the energon weapons can be equipped on the tail. Due to the transformation mechanism sharing origins with G1, some tank parts are stored beneath the wings in this mode, which is indeed a slight visual drawback.

▼Although there are still some areas for improvement, for long-time fans, being able to see such a faithful G1 design again is already deeply satisfying.

▼"Motormaster" (also translated as "Automaster"), a character from G1 with the same name, leads the Stunticons as a highway tyrant. He is a ground-based unit newly created by Megatron to counter the Autobots' aerial firepower, the Aerialbots. He typically assumes the Earth mode of a Kenworth K100 semi-trailer truck, and when necessary, can combine with his team members to form "Menasor" to deliver terrifying blows to the Autobots. This Legacy Edition is the third member of the new Stunticons, featuring a colossal Commander Class size. In addition to recreating the truck cab and individual robot mode, it also utilizes the disassembly and reassembly of the rear trailer to present Menasor's combined mode. This alternative triple-changer design has garnered significant attention from veteran G1 enthusiasts since its initial announcement!

▼Vehicle mode. Compared to the 2015 Combiner Wars version, not only is the truck cab more faithful to G1, but even the previously difficult-to-recreate trailer can finally be included. Both can also separate front and back, naturally elevating the playability to a new level.

▼The design of the truck cab and details like the rivets are truly worth savoring.

▼Three of the five Stunticons have arrived; we eagerly await the assembly of the final two!

▼By extending the supports beneath the trailer, it can stand independently. On a side note, are you all able to accept this proportion? Feel free to leave a comment and share your opinions!

▼The robot mode, transformed from the truck cab, is naturally completely different from the G1 mechanism where the trailer also participated in the transformation. Nevertheless, the most prominent legs and feet still retain the characteristics of classic G1, and the design is also highly faithful to its animated appearance.

▼The head sculpt also adopts the animated rather than the toy design. The suppressed expression framed by the helmet seems to hold a thousand unspoken words (?)

▼Of course, Motormaster's classic great sword cannot be absent; the romance of such a melee weapon remains very captivating.

▼In addition to storing the great sword, the trailer can also be disassembled and transformed into a twin-barreled turret and a command base, reinforcing Motormaster's long-range firepower.

▼Stunticons, assemble!!!

▼Finally, of course, we must show you the third transformation - the Combiner Mode! First, the trailer must be disassembled and transformed, and Motormaster must also be adjusted to form Menasor's upper body core.

▼Unlike the "Scramble" mode of G1 and Combiner Wars, this time Motormaster and the trailer can directly transform and combine to form Menasor's body frame. The other four Stunticon members, as per the animation's design, recreate the combining mechanism by "attaching" to the frame. The long sword and twin-barreled rifle can also serve as Menasor's weapons.

▼The head sculpt naturally adopts a retro animated style, with bloodshot eyes and sharp horns on its head, giving it a truly menacing presence.

▼Here's a look at the secret mechanism for attaching the limbs. First, the right arm combines with "Dragstrip" (originally Drag Strip, also translated as Robbery/Disilong) from the first wave. After attaching Dragstrip in race car mode directly onto the unextended right arm frame, internal tabs allow Dragstrip to split into two, and then the arm can be extended to complete the assembly.

▼For the legs, this wave's Wild Rider transforms into an L-shape and is attached to the back of the lower leg frame. This activates a purple bar mechanism that unfolds two flaps, completely filling the original hollow of the lower leg. This completes the leg assembly.

▼Menasor, 60% complete, has arrived! Aren't these combination modes incredibly interesting? Be sure to experience them for yourselves!

▼“Look who's the king of the road now?!” More fun and photos, we'll save for the day the combination is complete, and then we'll share them properly with all you toy enthusiasts!

▼And that concludes this unboxing report for the second wave of the Transformers Generations Legacy series. If you like it, don't miss out on these outstanding pieces from this wave. Feel free to leave comments and discuss your thoughts with other toy enthusiasts. See you in the next unboxing report!
