The popular 'MEGA CAT PROJECT' series, which transforms characters into cats, launched by Japanese model maker MEGAHOUSE, recently announced the official rollout of its new product "Mobile Suit Nyandam," based on "Mobile Suit Gundam," with a release date yet to be determined.
MEGA CAT PROJECT is a mini-figure series that combines popular characters from Japanese anime and manga with adorable cat imagery. Each character stands approximately 3 cm tall and is designed in collaboration with illustrator TAMPOPO, known for their expertise in drawing Q-version characters and cartoon-style cats. Unlike typical designs where character elements often outweigh feline features, TAMPOPO's style largely preserves the cat's image, with the exception of character costumes and accessories. Through similar breeds, fur colors, and expressive variations, the designs cleverly evoke the original characters.
The first wave of MEGA CAT PROJECT Mobile Suit Nyandam products will feature characters and mobile suits from the Earth Federation Forces, including main characters such as Amuro, Sayla, Matilda, and Bright. Furthermore, the three mobile suits from Operation V – RX-78-2 Gundam, RX-75 Guntank, and RX-77-2 Guncannon – will also be transformed into cute cat forms! The second wave will focus on the Principality of Zeon, featuring multiple characters and mobile suits led by Char and Zaku.
