Japanese toy brand GOOD SMILE COMPANY's affordable pre-painted PVC figure series "POP UP PARADE" is set to release 3D figures of "Kazuma Ikezawa" and his online avatar "King Kazma" from the 2009 animated film "Summer Wars" in November 2022!
Released in 2009, "Summer Wars" is a sci-fi animated film directed by Mamoru Hosoda, centered around real-life themes. The story primarily follows Kenji, an ordinary yet timid high school student with extraordinary mathematical problem-solving abilities. One day, he receives a strange encrypted email and, out of curiosity, solves the equation. Unexpectedly, this inadvertently leads to the invasion of "OZ," the virtual world closely connected to everyone's lives, by the hacker program "Love Machine." Many people's lives are severely affected, and even the grandmother of his beloved senior, Natsuki, tragically passes away due to a delay in receiving heart medication. Filled with self-reproach, Kenji resolves to set things right, joining forces with others to battle the malicious program in the virtual world using their avatars.
In the original story, Kazuma Ikezawa is Natsuki's cousin. Though 13 years old and small in stature, he is a computer genius who also learned Shaolin Kung Fu from his grandfather. His avatar in the virtual world of OZ is the fighting king, "King Kazma." Appearing like a rabbit, he wears a red vest jacket and black trousers, with a championship belt around his waist. He is a top fighter in the OZ world and has challenged "Love Machine" multiple times.
The simultaneously released POP UP PARADE figures of Kazuma and King Kazma faithfully recreate their appearances from the film. Standing at 15 cm and 21 cm tall respectively, Kazuma is depicted wearing a vest, shorts, and slippers, with an expression that makes him look like a cool young boy. King Kazma, on the other hand, is posed with his arms crossed over his chest, seemingly ready to jump into battle, appearing vivid and lifelike.
