Japanese model manufacturer Good Smile Company recently announced the latest product in its 'ACT MODE' series, which combines finished action figures with assembly model weapon accessories: 'Ray & Type WASP,' scheduled for release in April 2023.
'Ray & Type WASP' originates from Japanese illustrator Poco Murohani's original work 'NAVY FIELD 152.' In the setting, Ray is a spirit beast knight girl responsible for maintaining public order. She can command the bee-type spirit beast Type WASP as her armament, wielding her proficient pistol and spear in combat.
The Ray main body is a pre-painted, finished action figure with flexible articulated joints throughout. She comes with two interchangeable face parts, 'normal face' and 'smiling face,' along with various hand sculpts, allowing for dynamic posing with her 'spear' and 'pistol' weapons.
The bee-type spirit beast Type WASP, on the other hand, is an unpainted assembly model kit. After simple assembly, in addition to its basic 'Spirit Beast Mode,' it can transform into 'Artillery Mode' with deployed cannons and 'High Mobility Mode' by swapping parts. It can also combine with Ray from her back, replacing the conical leg armor to recreate its armed form!
