Having released numerous classic super robots, featuring "large size" and "articulation" as its selling points, the "GABM" (GRAND ACTION BIGSIZE MODEL) series of toys from Japanese toy company EVOLUTION TOY is scheduled to launch an updated large-scale articulated toy of one of Go Nagai's classic super robots, "Grendizer", in January 2023!
The work "UFO Robot Grendizer" (directly translated as: Grendizer; formerly known as: King Kong God of War, Kurei Flying God; referred to as Grendizer in Hong Kong) was created by the renowned manga artist Go Nagai, who also created "Mazinger Z". It is the third installment in the Mazinger series.
The story recounts how the protagonist, Prince "Duke Fleed" of Planet Fleed, fled to Earth after his home planet was destroyed by an attack from the Vegan Empire's allied forces. In his time of crisis, he was rescued by Dr. Umon, director of the Space Science Laboratory, who adopted him. He assumed the alias Daisuke Umon, hoping to live a reclusive life. However, when the enemies also attacked Earth, spurred by Koji, he finally stopped evading his trauma and once again piloted his exclusive machine, "Grendizer", joining Koji and other companions to confront the enemies. Thus, the story unfolds.
