TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced that the "HI-METAL R" alloy model series, featuring transformation mechanisms, will release the Macross 40th Anniversary commemorative product, "VF-1S Super Valkyrie (Hikaru Ichijo's Machine)," in February 2023.
The VF-1S Super Valkyrie is a limited-production enhanced Valkyrie unit, equipped with the more powerful FF-2001D engine and a head unit with enhanced weapon and communication capabilities. Due to its scarcity, it is typically used as a commander's unit. In the TV series, this unit was piloted by Roy Focker, leader of the Skull Squadron. However, after Roy's death in battle, the unit was inherited by the protagonist, Hikaru Ichijo.
The "HI-METAL R VF-1S Super Valkyrie (Hikaru Ichijo's Machine)" features newly sculpted head, hands, and wrist missile pods to match the TV series' specifications. It also includes "abdominal detail enhancement parts" for use in Battroid mode, further increasing its visual information. The unit also features various body markings, such as the Skull Squadron emblem and "U.N. SPACY" (United Nations Spacy) lettering.
The product includes a "Super Pack" comprising components such as conformal fuel tanks, high-speed boosters, FAST PACK, micro missile pods, and micro missile launchers. These can be freely attached and detached, or combined with the three-stage transformation mechanism to recreate Fighter, Gerwalk, and Battroid modes. In Fighter mode, by replacing the wing parts, you can even recreate the appearance of three "large anti-ship reaction missiles" suspended on each side!
