Go Nagai Serves as Executive Director! Grendizer Releases 'PROJECT G' Special Video, Full Scope to be Revealed Next Year!

The classic robot work "UFO Robot Grendizer" (formerly known as Goldorak/Grandizer), created by Japanese manga artist Go Nagai, today announced the official launch of a new project, 'PROJECT G', and simultaneously released a special video for the project.

Born in 1975, Grendizer is the third work in the Mazinger series' worldview. The story describes how the peaceful planet Fleed was destroyed after being invaded by King Vega, who sought to conquer the universe. The surviving prince, along with Grendizer, the planet's guardian deity, escaped to Earth. He was fortunately adopted by the director of the Space Science Laboratory and given the Earth identity "Daisuke Umon." Just as he thought he could resume a peaceful daily life, two years later, the Vega Allied Forces launched another invasion of Earth. To protect this "second home," Daisuke resolved to pilot Grendizer and fight alongside Koji Kabuto, Hikaru Makiba, Maria, and other companions.

In the special video released this time, Go Nagai-sensei first announced the official launch of 'PROJECT G' and explained that this project will bring together the best members in Japan to create something truly amazing. Although there was no detailed explanation of what is being produced, the latter half of the video began to play a series of images including design drafts, manga versions, anime versions, concept art, storyboards, and more. The official website states, "A new legend of Grendizer begins here," and even simultaneously held a "Disc Beast Creation Contest," where selected Disc Beasts will appear in the new work. Perhaps we can look forward to a new anime work similar to "Mazinger Z: Infinity" and the expansion of more toy product projects.
