BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division in Japan, known for its most diverse lineup of 1/144 scale Gunpla, the 'HG (High Grade)' series, today announced the latest product from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island," the "HG 1/144 RGM-79 GM (Sleggar's Custom)," scheduled for release in November 2022.
The RGM-79 GM is a mass-produced mobile suit developed from the actual combat data of the RX-78-02 Gundam. It focuses on simplifying its structure and reducing manufacturing costs to improve productivity. While its performance is inferior to the Gundam, its advantages include rapid and mass production, relatively easy operation, and high versatility, allowing for modifications based on pilot or mission requirements. Sleggar's unit, which appeared in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island," features a gray-toned paint scheme and distinctive body markings. It sortied alongside Sayla's Core Booster to search for the missing Amuro.
The "HG 1/144 RGM-79 GM (Sleggar's Custom)" recreates the exterior armor with a completely new mold, reproducing the head camera that reflects internal sensors, the uniquely curved chest armor, and the precise part separation structure throughout the body. The characteristic gray tones and body markings of Sleggar's unit are recreated using multiple molding colors and water-slide decals.
The overall articulation structure inherits the design of the "HG 1/144 RX-78-02 Gundam (GUNDAM THE ORIGIN Ver.)," featuring an excellent range of motion capable of dynamic poses, allowing for the recreation of the scene from the show where it performs a perfect dive and spectacularly breaks its head. Armaments include a Beam Spray Gun (early type), Beam Rifle, Beam Saber, and Shield.
