Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division today announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam," the "HG 1/144 GM Spartan," scheduled for release in December 2022. This product belongs to the 1/144 scale Gunpla "HG (High Grade)" series, which boasts the most diverse range of mobile suits. This product will be exclusively sold on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The RGM-79S GM Spartan first appeared in the "F.M.S." Universal Century mobile suit design project featured in the 1989 issue of "Monthly Bandai Making Journal." It was set as a mobile suit deployed by the Earth Federation Army in the subtropical regions of Asia, modified from the GM series. Its entire body is painted deep green to blend into jungles, and it is equipped with experimental stealth equipment such as infrared disruptors, infrared illuminators, and a simple Minovsky particle dispersal device, allowing it to effectively utilize its combat capabilities in jungle guerrilla warfare.
The "HG 1/144 GM Spartan" utilizes numerous newly molded parts and features precise color separation and part division, along with the latest modern articulation joint designs. Flexible articulation is achieved through thigh roller and swing mechanisms, as well as pull-out shoulder joints. The precise mechanical structure is visible beneath the clear visor of the head camera. Details of each additional armor piece, variations in color depth, sole armor, and thrusters are all faithfully reproduced.
The dedicated Mini-Gun Machine Gun features precise part separation. It can reproduce the rotating barrel mechanism and movable parts such as the foregrip, side sight, and magazine holder. Furthermore, the entire mobile suit is equipped with a rich array of armaments in multiple locations. For instance, WAMM or beam sabers can be mounted on the shoulder tops and forearm racks. Grenades can be equipped on the side skirts, and spare magazines are hung on both sides of the rear skirt. A heat knife can be drawn from the sheath on the side of the backpack, and it also reproduces the deployed state of the "Simple Minovsky Particle Dispersal Device" in the center of the backpack.
