First Foe of the Iron Castle! Mazinger Z GRAND ACTION BIGSIZE MODEL Mechanical Beast Garada K7

Having released numerous classic super robots, featuring "large size" and "articulation" as its selling points, the "GABM" (GRAND ACTION BIGSIZE MODEL) series of toys from Japanese toy company EVOLUTION TOY is scheduled to release a large, articulated collectible figure of the enemy character "Mechanical Beast Garada K7" (ガラダK7) from the classic work Mazinger Z in March 2023!

Created by the renowned manga artist Go Nagai, Mazinger Z (マジンガーZ, also translated as "Demon God Z") is undoubtedly a familiar work and a beautiful childhood memory for many. The series was first serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in February 1972 and was animated for television broadcast in October of the same year. It later garnered significant acclaim when aired worldwide, achieving an astonishing 80% viewership rating in European countries such as Spain and Italy (Spain even has a large statue of Mazinger Z), demonstrating its extraordinary appeal.

▼ First TV Anime Opening Theme Video for Mazinger Z:

In the original work, Mechanical Beast Garada K7 and Double-Headed Monster Doublas M2 (ダブラスM2) were the first enemies Koji Kabuto faced after piloting Mazinger Z. Garada K7 stands 18 meters tall, resembling a grim reaper with a skull for a face. Its eyes can fire missiles, and the scythes mounted on either side of its face can be thrown like boomerangs, serving as its primary weapons. It, along with Doublas M2, was ultimately defeated by Mazinger Z's Rust Hurricane (ルストハリケーン). However, because it and Doublas M2 consistently appeared in the opening sequence, they were jokingly called the "most pathetic mechanical beasts" (getting destroyed every week). Nevertheless, it has also been active in other related works and games, making it a highly exposed mechanical beast.

This GABM series Mechanical Beast Garada K7 from EVOLUTION TOY stands 45 cm tall, maintaining the series' signature articulation. The scythes inserted on both sides of its head can be removed and held by hand to simulate throwing. Accessories include missile-firing effect parts for the face and hand extension parts for posing. When displayed alongside Mazinger Z, it can recreate scenes from the TV anime.
