The renowned Hong Kong toy brand "ACTION TOYS", which has released numerous robot toys, is set to launch an articulated figure of the protagonist "JAN KUGO" and his vehicle "Starcrow" from the classic early 1980s sci-fi anime series "SF Saiyuki Starzinger" (also known as "Space Journey to the West" or "Adventure Five Heroes") in the first quarter of 2023!
"SF Saiyuki Starzinger" (West Saga Starzinger) is a work produced by Toei Animation, which began airing on Fuji TV in 1978, with the original concept by Leiji Matsumoto. The story is an adaptation of the famous traditional Chinese folk tale "Journey to the West," incorporating various futuristic sci-fi and robotic elements. At the time, it was broadcast in Taiwan on CTV under the name "Adventure Five Heroes." It is mostly referred to as "Space Journey to the West."
The story describes how the Great King Star at the center of the galaxy experiences unstable energy changes, causing disorder in the galactic cosmic order and rampant monsters. The only solution is to enlist the help of Princess Aurora (オーロラ姫, translated as "Princess Tianfeng" in Taiwan at the time) from Earth. Thus, the princess and three cyborg guards embark on a journey to the Great King Star, encountering various dangerous enemies along the way.

JAN KUGO (ジャン・クーゴ, translated as "Tianhu" in Taiwan at the time) is the male protagonist of this work, whose image is based on Sun Wukong from Journey to the West. An orphan from Earth, he possesses exceptional combat abilities but has an impulsive and short-tempered personality. Originally imprisoned on the moon, he was later released in exchange for serving as Princess Aurora's guard. He wears something similar to Sun Wukong's golden fillet on his head, used to restrain his behavior. His weapon resembles a Ruyi Jingu Bang and can fire energy beams. His beloved machine, "Starcrow" (translated as "Flying Star Vehicle" in Hong Kong), can be ridden and also provides support, somewhat akin to Sun Wukong's Flying Nimbus.
This "Adventure Five Heroes" toy set from ACTION TOYS perfectly recreates the three cyborg guards of Princess Aurora, who resembles the Tang Monk from the series, along with their respective vehicles, allowing this outstanding work from yesteryear to regain its heroic glory. Each set includes one articulated figure and one fixed pose figure, as well as their respective vehicles. The protagonist KUGO's Starcrow can transform into a super high-speed mode and faithfully reproduce the appearance of him standing directly on it. Additionally, the display base is designed to depict the launch from the battleship "Queen Cosmos."
