Known Hong Kong toy brand "ACTION TOYS", which has released numerous robot toys, is set to launch an articulated figure of "DON HAKKA", one of the main characters from the classic early 80s sci-fi anime "SF Saiyuki Starzinger" (also known as "Space Western Starzinger" or "Adventure Five Heroes"), along with his vehicle "STARBOOD", in the second quarter of 2023!
"SF Saiyuki Starzinger" (West Saga Starzinger) is a work produced by Toei Animation, which began airing on Fuji TV in 1978, with the original story by Leiji Matsumoto. The story is adapted from the famous traditional Chinese folk tale "Journey to the West," incorporating various futuristic sci-fi and mechanical elements. At the time, it was broadcast in Taiwan on CTV under the name "Adventure Five Heroes". It is mostly referred to as "Space Western Starzinger".
The story describes how the planet Great King, located at the center of the galaxy, experiences unstable and weakening energy, leading to a disruption of cosmic order throughout the Milky Way and rampant monsters. The only solution is to enlist the power of Princess Aurora (オーロラ姫, translated as "Princess Tianfeng" in Taiwan at the time) from Earth. Thus, the princess and her three cyborg guards embark on a journey to Great King, encountering various dangerous enemies along the way.

DON HAKKA (ドン・ハッカ, translated as "Tianlang" in Taiwan at the time), whose image is based on Zhu Bajie from Journey to the West. He is a cyborg from the Planet Mud, with a short and stout appearance, often making comical blunders and serving somewhat as a jester in the team. He has a huge appetite and frequently uses a hammer and a shield on his belly as weapons. His vehicle is the "Starbood" (translated as "Meteor Vehicle" in Hong Kong), which possesses both flight and drilling capabilities, and its weapon is the "Tianlang Vulcan Cannon".
This "Adventure Five Heroes" toy from ACTION TOYS perfectly recreates the three cyborg guards of Princess Aurora, who resembles the Tang Monk from the series, along with their respective vehicles, bringing this outstanding work from yesteryear back to its former glory. Each set includes one articulated figure and one fixed pose figure, as well as their respective vehicles. Don Hakka's Starbood can display its drill and land-driving wheels through interchangeable parts. Furthermore, the vehicle's cockpit canopy can be opened to reveal the interior. The Don Hakka figure has good basic articulation, and accessories include a hammer and a shield, which can be attached to his belly.
