The "ROBOT魂" action figure line, produced by BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division, has previously released numerous mecha characters from the "Aura Battler Dunbine" anime (SIDE AB). This series is scheduled to release the "Gadram" (ガドラム) unit from the serialized column "AURA FHANTASM" in April 2023!
"Aura Battler Dunbine" (聖戦士ダンバイン) is a classic robot anime that debuted in 1983. The story describes a group of Aura Battlers (ABs) from various nations, by chance, fighting each other in an alternate dimension called "Byston Well," located between the ocean and land. In 1988, an OVA version, "New Story of Aura Battler DUNBINE," was released, depicting the reappearance of Aura Battlers in Byston Well 700 years later, despite their supposed disappearance. The protagonist, Shion (the reincarnation of the original protagonist Sho Zama), pilots the Sirbine.
This Gadram also originates from "AURA FHANTASM," an illustration series serialized in the model magazine "B-CLUB." The Aura Battler designs were created by master mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi, featuring a slightly more unique style compared to the original work. Many fans greatly appreciate these re-imagined mecha. ROBOT魂 has also released products from this series, such as the previously introduced "Velbine" (ヴェルビン), which is an evolution of the Billbine, as an example.
The Gadram is an Aura Battler from the Kingdom of Ah, and it is an evolved form of the mass-produced Drumlo (ドラムロ). Its shell-like armor provides high defense, and its offensive power is also considerable, with one unit's combat strength equivalent to four Drumlos. This ROBOT魂 Gadram faithfully recreates its appearance from the manga. For weaponry, it includes an Aura Sword and a Meteor Hammer, with the Meteor Hammer capable of being stored on its back shell. Its articulation is excellent, allowing for poses such as kneeling on one knee. Additionally, the cockpit below the chest can be opened.
