BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan today announced the latest product from the 'FULL MECHANICS' series, known for its high-density details and ease of assembly, the "FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Gundam Aerial" from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury", slated for release in April 2023.
The XVX-016 Gundam Aerial is a GUND-ARM type mobile suit developed by Shin Sei Development Corporation on Mercury. Led by President Prospera, it is piloted by her daughter, Suletta Mercury. Suletta has grown up with the AI installed in the Gundam Aerial, considering it a member of her family. This unit is equipped with armaments such as beam sabers, a beam rifle, and a shield. The shield can separate into 11 "GUND-Bits", which can be used not only as remotely controlled all-range wireless weapons called "Funnel"s, but also connect to various points across the body and the beam rifle to enhance mobility and firepower. Furthermore, when piloted by Suletta, it can activate an extraordinary high-level "Permet Score", unleashing inexplicable and formidable abilities.
The "FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Gundam Aerial" utilizes its large 1/100 scale to showcase high-resolution detailed sculpting and a plated finish that cannot be fully expressed in the HG version. Compared to the MG series, the kit's internal frame structure has been significantly simplified to reduce assembly difficulty. However, through intricate part separation, it retains flexible movable joints and armor interlocking mechanisms, allowing for a wide range of natural, human-like poses.
The product's most significant feature lies in the luminous parts, such as the head, shoulders, and chest, which glow when the system is activated. These areas are constructed with internal plated red parts covered by clear outer parts, creating a cool, shimmering luster distinct from the HG version. For armaments, it similarly includes a beam rifle, beam sabers, and a shield. The shield can separate into 11 "GUND-Bits" that connect to various points across the body and the beam rifle, or be combined with a separately sold display stand to recreate its "Funnel" usage poses.
