Japanese toy manufacturer stasto (スタンド・ストーンズ / Stand Stones) is scheduled to release a stunning new product in January 2023: the "Creature x Gemstone" gashapon series, created in collaboration with Japanese colored pencil artist Yuichiro Abe (@yuichiro_abe)!
Yuichiro Abe is a young artist who uses colored pencils as his medium, masterfully blending the lifelike expressions of animals with the dazzling beauty of gemstones. His original "Creature x Gemstone" series is not only highly popular but has also led to related book releases and exhibition collaborations. In addition to vividly depicting animal outlines and appearances, he is also exceptionally skilled at combining sparkling gemstones with delicious fruits and vegetables, and creating realistic three-dimensional art on flat paper! This time, stasto aims to bring Yuichiro Abe's illustrations to life in three dimensions, creating incredibly beautiful "Creature x Gemstone" gashapon figures, each approximately 4-6 cm in size!
This series features a total of 5 designs. In addition to their vibrant color contrasts, each figure showcases a different animal, including the "Amethyst Hedgehog," "Ruby Sea Turtle," "Topaz Seahorse," "Emerald Frog," and "Aquamarine Penguin." Judging from the official images, not only do the gemstone parts exhibit beautiful luster and sharp, blocky lines, but the biological realism of the animal bodies, fur textures, and surface wrinkles are also quite lifelike.
