Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, recently announced the latest limited product from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY, the "HG 1/144 Gundam Astray Red Dragon," scheduled for release on October 08, 2022.
The Gundam Astray Red Dragon is an enhanced form created by the protagonist of the side story, Lowe Guele, by modifying the "MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame." It is equipped with various black-tech parts developed by Lowe. The head has been replaced with the "Red Dragon Head," which enhances Mirage Colloid control capabilities and features a multi-functional beam antenna. Furthermore, three exaggerated "Calamity Swords" are mounted on the flight backpack. These can be used not only as welding machines or cutting tools but also transform into large swords and beam guns when necessary. They also contain a Mirage Colloid dispersion device, which can be used to control the unit's posture or neutralize the opponent's Mirage Colloids.
The "HG 1/144 Gundam Astray Red Dragon" reproduces the distinctive Red Dragon Head and the three Calamity Swords in HG specifications, with the head's beam antenna also recreated using clear parts. The armaments include the original Gundam Astray Red Frame's Gerbera Straight, beam rifle, and shield. The three Calamity Swords can also transform from their stored state into sword mode and gun mode by swapping parts. Additionally, the kit also includes the BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type head unit, allowing for the recreation of the previously released "Flight Unit Equipped Type."
