The latest product from Japan's MECHA SMILE brand's 'MODEROID' model kit series, the painted prototype of "Thunderjaw" from the video game Horizon Forbidden West, was recently unveiled for the first time. Release date is yet to be determined.
One of the greatest pleasures of the Horizon series is encountering and hunting a wide variety of machine beasts across the world. In terms of their design, they are built with advanced technology and their behaviors resemble those of real animals. Among them, the most popular is the large machine beast resembling a Tyrannosaurus Rex, the "Thunderjaw (Machine Beast)". The Thunderjaw is considered the pinnacle of combat-type machine beasts. In addition to its close-range attacks using its massive mouth, legs, and tail, it is also equipped with numerous long-range laser beam weapons, capable of launching powerful laser attacks from its head and the disc launchers on both sides of its back.
The "MODEROID Thunderjaw" currently on display is a painted prototype, showcasing highly detailed and intricate sculpting on the surface of each armor and weapon part, conveying the layered texture of various metal components. The designs of parts such as the head and the back's disc launchers are particularly faithful and impressive. However, most armor parts do not appear to have been designed with separate color molding, requiring self-painting to achieve more precise detailed finishes.
