The popular action figure series 'S.H.Figuarts', released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, following Kamen Rider BLACK SUN, today announced the second product from the tokusatsu series "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN", "Kamen Rider SHADOWMOON", with an expected release in April 2023.
Premiering exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on October 28, 2022, "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN" is part of the 50th-anniversary project for Japan's popular tokusatsu series "Kamen Rider". With the theme of returning to its origins, it reboots the popular 1987 series "Kamen Rider BLACK", presenting the cruel fate and sorrowful story of brothers Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki through director Kazuya Shiraishi's new perspective. It also features two highly acclaimed popular actors, Hidetoshi Nishijima and Tomoya Nakamura, starring as the two characters of the new generation.
The design of the Kamen Riders and monsters in the series was discussed by Kazuya Shiraishi, Shinji Higuchi, Kiyotaka Taguchi, and others, with the final designs completed by PLEX designer Daisuke Kobayashi and his team. Unlike the original BLACK, which featured functional beauty and a bio-mechanical feel, Kamen Rider BLACK SUN and SHADOWMOON incorporate a large number of more realistic biological designs, such as monster-like muscle lines, thorns, and carapaces, while retaining their basic prototypes.
The "S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider SHADOWMOON" is based on the previously released Kamen Rider BLACK SUN, featuring the same highly organic, high-density details resembling insect carapaces across its entire body. New parts have been used to create distinct head and chest armor designs, among other areas, differing from BLACK SUN. The silvery-white body, which emits a green glow, is faithfully reproduced through its paintwork. The articulation design is identical to BLACK SUN, utilizing flexible new joints that allow for impressive kneeling poses. Accessories include interchangeable chest parts and a weapon, allowing for the recreation of the pose where the insect leg is detached and transformed into a sharp sword!
