BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced that the latest product from the popular articulated Shokugan series 'SHODO,' which has evolved into the new series 'SHODO-XX,' will be releasing the "Kamen Rider BLACK SUN & Battle Hopper Set" from Kamen Rider BLACK SUN in April 2023.
Compared to previous series, 'SHODO-XX (DOUBLE CROSS)' significantly enhances sculpting and articulation. It utilizes a large number of new parts to refine the designs of various Kamen Riders and redesigns articulated joints to expand the range of motion, aiming to faithfully reproduce the cool costumes and classic actions from the show. This release, featuring the protagonist Kamen Rider BLACK SUN and his beloved motorcycle Battle Hopper from Kamen Rider BLACK SUN, uses entirely new parts to thoroughly recreate their in-show appearances.
The SHODO-XX Kamen Rider BLACK SUN stands approximately 10 cm tall, with intricate sculpting that largely reproduces its insect-like, highly organic appearance. It features the flexible joint design standard for the SHODO-XX series. Accessories include a set of interchangeable parts to recreate the pose where a pair of insect legs are removed from the back to become blade weapons, as well as a head sculpt with red compound eyes, as seen during the final battle with Shadow Moon. Its flexible articulation allows for dynamic poses, such as executing Rider Punches and Rider Kicks in battle scenes.
Koutaro Minami's beloved motorcycle, the Battle Hopper, is produced at the same scale as Kamen Rider BLACK SUN. From its grasshopper-shaped front to the engine and surrounding components made of intricate parts, and the tires and wheel rims, all details are reproduced with precise sculpting and metallic paintwork, making it incredibly cool. When paired with the Kamen Rider BLACK SUN figure, dynamic riding scenes can be recreated.
