BANDAICANDY, the Shokugan division of Bandai Co., Ltd. Japan, recently announced the latest product from the new 'Shodo XX' series, an evolution of the popular 'Shodo' articulated Shokugan line, featuring the "Kamen Rider SHADOWMOON & Mantis Mutant Set" from Kamen Rider BLACK SUN, scheduled for release in April 2023.
'Shodo XX (DOUBLE CROSS)' significantly enhances sculpting and articulation compared to previous series, utilizing numerous new parts to refine the designs of various Kamen Riders and redesigning articulated joints to expand their range of motion, aiming to faithfully reproduce the cool suits and classic actions from the show. This release, featuring the secondary protagonist Kamen Rider Shadowmoon and the female protagonist's transformation into the Mantis Mutant from Kamen Rider BLACK SUN, utilizes entirely new parts to thoroughly recreate their in-show appearances.
The Shodo XX Kamen Rider Shadowmoon, standing at approximately 10 cm tall, features highly organic details integrated with insect exoskeletons, exquisitely reproducing the high-density armor layers, human-like muscle lines, and fibers. It is finished with metallic paint to represent its glowing green, silvery-white body. The overall articulated joints also adopt the latest design after the Shodo XX revision, allowing for flexible combat poses. It also comes with various interchangeable hands, an alternate head, an alternate chest, and weapons, enabling the recreation of poses where the insect legs are removed from the back to form blades, and the green glowing compound eyes when performing special moves.
The Mantis Mutant, transformed from the female protagonist Aoi Izumi after being modified, also stands at approximately 10 cm tall. Its design faithfully recreates the elegant female physique, the mantis-like head sculpt, and the scythe-like forelimbs that also function as hands. Furthermore, the transformation belt seen at the end of the series has also been produced.
