French sculpting brand [[OBJ_3668]], primarily known for producing Japanese anime and manga-themed statues, announced its latest product early this morning (the 9th): the "Eikichi Onizuka" 1/6 scale diorama statue, based on the manga series "Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO)" by Japanese manga artist Tohru Fujisawa! Shipping is expected in Q2 2024.
Eikichi Onizuka, 22 years old, was once "Oni" of the Oni-Baku Combi, a notorious biker gang from Shonan. Later, he and his sworn brother Ryuji decided to venture to Tokyo to become great men. However, after witnessing the shocking truth of a "beautiful high school girl hooking up with an old geezer teacher," he changed his mind and decided to become a great teacher. After undergoing teaching practice (and a series of challenges), he finally began his teaching career at Seirin Academy (Kichijou Academy). Tohru Fujisawa's exaggerated storytelling not only portrays Onizuka as strong as a cyborg but also recounts legendary feats such as trading AIR MAX sneakers for a BMW and speeding at 150 km/h on a 40 km/h road.
This piece stands approximately 33 cm tall, capturing Onizuka in a cool pose, leaning back on his beloved ZII motorcycle while smoking. The overall design is themed around his appearance after he decided to become a teacher, faithfully recreating his neat blonde hair and white suit. The clothing features intricate shading, and interchangeable parts allow for three different expressions and the option to wear sunglasses, among other poses. That crying face head sculpt in the official images really looks quite ugly! The mechanical details of the motorcycle and the scene at the entrance of Seirin Academy are well-executed, and you can even spot panties, a hammer, a spray can, and the "GTO" lettering on the back!
