American collectible manufacturer Sideshow Collectibles recently unveiled a new addition to its "Premium Format Figure" series: a full-body statue of the "Probe Droid" from "Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back"! It is expected to ship from June to September 2023.
The "Probe Droid," resembling a black mechanical jellyfish, is a small unmanned drone used by the Galactic Empire for reconnaissance and search operations. It first appeared in "The Empire Strikes Back" during the Hoth planet scenes, with the purpose of detecting the Rebel Alliance's movements. This Premium Format Figure rendition of the Probe Droid is crafted based on its appearance in "The Empire Strikes Back," standing at an impressive 68.6 cm tall, making for a significant presence. It meticulously recreates its spherical body, antennas, sensors, slender mechanical legs, and more. Upon closer inspection, subtle signs of wear and tear can be observed on its edges and corners, resulting in an overall highly detailed and realistic piece!
In addition to its exquisite appearance, this piece also features rotating mechanical legs, a light-up function, and sound effects designed based on the movie's transmission sounds, making this Probe Droid even more valuable for collectors.
