Bandai Namco's GASHAPON capsule toy division, under its "Gashapon sound" series, will release a miniature version of the classic arcade game "Gator Panic" as a capsule toy. There will be six types in total, with a reference price of 500 JPY per turn, scheduled to make a nostalgic appearance in November 2022!
The classic arcade game "Gator Panic (ワニワニパニック)", originally released by Namco in 1989, features gameplay similar to Whac-A-Mole, but with cute alligators as the main characters. They emerge horizontally from the machine, and when an alligator appears, players must hit them with a hammer to earn points! (Please do not imitate this in real life)
Due to the special design of the frequently battered alligator heads, repairs were very difficult, and coupled with the manufacturer's bankruptcy, the Gator Panic machines gradually faded into history. However, in 2020, Bandai re-released a new version of the machine, "Gator Panic R", which incorporates an LCD screen and features adjusted hammer materials, bringing back the beloved alligators once again!
The "Gashapon sound Gator Panic" capsule toy recreates the impressive alligator design from the arcade game in a mini size of approximately 6 cm. Each alligator comes with its own small den and a menacing hammer, and when hit, it emits a familiar sound! The collection includes Alligator A to Alligator E, each with different eye sticker designs, cutely reproducing everything from their signature expressions to dazed and grinning eyes after being hit. There is also a special golden version. Collect a whole set and line them up to recreate the Gator Panic game on your desk!
