BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, Japan, today announced the latest product from the "F90 A to Z PROJECT," an equipment completion plan for "Mobile Suit Gundam F90," the "MG 1/100 Gundam F90 Mission Pack C-Type & T-Type," from its Gunpla "MG (Master Grade)" series, which features a precisely articulated inner frame, detailed color separation, and flexible articulation design. It is scheduled for release in February 2023.
The Gundam F90 was a mobile suit developed by the Strategic Naval Research Institute (S.N.R.I.) in Universal Century 0111 as part of the "FORMULA" mobile suit miniaturization project. It boasts characteristics such as compact size and high output, and incorporates innovative micro-honeycomb structure technology to enhance armor strength, along with a compact, high-output Minovsky nuclear reactor. The most significant feature of this series is the numerous hard points located throughout the entire machine, allowing for quick replacement with various "Mission Pack" expansion equipment as needed. The products being commercialized this time are the C-Type (COLDNESS TYPE) for cold region operations and the T-Type (TRACER) pack for pursuit battles.
Both "MG 1/100 Gundam F90 Mission Pack C-Type & T-Type" packs are three-dimensionalized based on newly drawn illustrations by mechanical designer Kunio Okawara. They can be equipped onto the separately sold "MG 1/100 Gundam F90" main unit. The C-Type Mission Pack, which previously lacked clear settings, has now been newly designed as a cold region specification. It uses numerous new parts to recreate the heater units located throughout the body that maintain the machine's temperature. Metal wires are included to represent the cables connecting each heater. The chest's snow-proof cape is made of non-woven fabric, and the front leg armor can extend to the soles of the feet to form a ski-like configuration.
The other set, the T-Type Mission Pack, was also equipment without detailed prior settings. This time, it has been newly designed as pursuit battle specification equipment. It uses new parts to recreate the long-range thrusters mounted on the back and the large shields attached to both shoulders. The long-range thrusters, including the central main thruster and the auxiliary nozzles on both sides, feature movable joints at their bases. The massive fuel tanks are detachable. The large shields on both shoulders are connected to the shoulder armor hard points via swivel arms, allowing them to rotate in multiple directions.
