Japan's Max Factory, a highly popular movable figure series, "figma", will release a DX Ver. deluxe edition of the protagonist "Naofumi Iwatani" from the popular anime and manga series 《The Rising of the Shield Hero》, scheduled for release in August 2023.
《The Rising of the Shield Hero》 (盾の勇者の成り上がり) is a fantasy novel serialized online by Japanese novelist Aneko Yusagi, later adapted into a manga, and animated in 2019, with its second season concluding in June of this year. The story begins when college student Naofumi Iwatani accidentally stumbles upon a book called "The Four Holy Weapons Book" and is sucked into another world, where he becomes the "Shield Hero," with the shield in his hand being his only weapon.
Due to being framed by villains at the beginning, Naofumi Iwatani initially had a very bad reputation, even being mistaken for a villain by many. After forming partnerships with Raphtalia, a demi-human he met through a master-servant relationship, and Filo, who hatched from a monster egg he raised, he gradually began to build his reputation, assisting villagers everywhere, and the story slowly unfolds from there.
This figma DX Ver. of Naofumi Iwatani primarily follows the progression of the story, bundling the content of the previously released initial figure with new shield accessories. Additional shields such as the "Nue Shield," "Soul Eater Shield," "Whale's Magic Core Shield," and "Spirit Tortoise Heart Shield" are included. These are combined with the original existing content, which includes his fabric cape, three interchangeable face plates, multiple movable hand parts, and a dedicated display stand, allowing for the recreation of even more situations from the original work.
