Japan's MEDICOM TOY, known for its exquisite figure series "Ultra Detail Figure" (UDF) which has released numerous anime and manga character products, will launch the second wave of its three-dimensional figure series based on the classic football manga "Captain Tsubasa" (キャプテン翼)! There will be five figures in total, scheduled for release in August 2023!
Created by manga artist Yoichi Takahashi, "Captain Tsubasa" has been around for 40 years since its debut. Protagonist Tsubasa Ozora's famous quote, "Football is my friend," has inspired many boys to become football players. The early chapters of the manga, depicting Tsubasa Ozora and his Nankatsu Elementary teammates battling strong opponents from various regions, were incredibly passionate. The decisive match against his rival and competitor, Kojiro Hyuga, and his Meiwa Elementary team, was particularly intense and is considered a classic. During the recent 2022 Qatar World Cup, the Japanese team even fulfilled a scenario once depicted in the manga, achieving a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory against Germany to secure their first win, bringing joy to the entire nation of Japan.
This second wave (SERIES 2) of the "Captain Tsubasa" UDF series from MEDICOM includes five figures, featuring Nankatsu Elementary's protagonist Tsubasa Ozora, Taro Misaki, Genzo Wakabayashi, as well as Meiwa Elementary's Kojiro Hyuga, the "Football Prince" Jun Misugi, and Tsubasa's mentor Roberto Hongo, detailed as follows:
