Japan's GOOD SMILE COMPANY's "MODEROID" series of highly articulated and color-separated plastic model kits, following the "Super Pipimi BARI Mode", once again takes the popular Japanese comedy work "POP TEAM EPIC" as its theme to release the new "MODEROID Great BARI BARI Team Epic". It has a suggested retail price of 10,900 JPY and is scheduled for release in June 2023.
The comedic four-panel manga "POP TEAM EPIC" (ポプテピピック), created by Japanese manga artist Bukubu Okawa, centers around the surreal daily lives of 14-year-old girls Popuko and Pipimi. The plot is primarily pure comedy and nonsensical retorts, drawing on current events, anime, video games, TV dramas, and other topics for its humor, even parodying its own publisher, "Takeshobo". After its anime adaptation, it became even more outrageous, with each episode featuring different voice actors for Popuko and Pipimi, boasting a luxurious cast, and an even more uncontrolled storytelling style. The second season of the TV anime adaptation began airing in October this year, and in addition to the original manga content, it incorporates many original segments, doubling its chaotic charm!
The "MODEROID Great BARI BARI Team Epic" plastic model kit, from "POP TEAM EPIC TV Anime Season 2", is a set combining "MODEROID Super Pipimi BARI Mode" + "MODEROID Mecha Popuko + Super Kuso Giant Combination Parts Set". It includes various molded colors with clear parts, pre-painted parts, and stickers, allowing for a high degree of reproduction upon assembly. When combined, the model stands approximately 17.5 cm tall, faithfully recreating the impactful design from the anime!
In addition to Super Pipimi BARI Mode's greatsword "Lord of Calamity", Valiant Cannon, and missile launchers, it further includes the Great Kuso Cannon and Super Kuso Giant Combination parts. Through dedicated joint assembly, the remaining mechanical parts can combine into a "Mysterious Fortress" state. The Mecha Popuko parts remaining after the Great BARI BARI Team Epic combination can be attached to a dedicated body to be displayed as "Great 'Mini' BARI BARI Team Epic". Furthermore, it also comes with a special package box illustrated by Masami Obari!
