"WETA Workshop," the world-renowned TV and film special effects company, recently announced the latest addition to its "MINI EPICS" vinyl figure series, based on the epic fantasy "The Lord of the Rings": the "Witch-King Of The Unseen Lands"! Both a regular edition and a limited edition will be released simultaneously, with an estimated shipping date in Q3 2023.
The Witch-King of Angmar has no true name, only many terrifying legends. He is also known as the "Lord of the Nazgûl" and the "Lord of Morgul." He is Sauron's most powerful servant, and it was he who wounded Frodo with a Morgul-blade at Weathertop in "The Fellowship of the Ring." His appearance riding a "Fellbeast" is truly terrifying and imposing! In the films, even Gandalf the White struggled against him, with Gandalf's staff being instantly shattered by the Witch-King. However, during the battle for Minas Tirith, the Witch-King was miraculously defeated by the combined efforts of Merry and Éowyn.
This three-dimensional rendition of the "Witch-King" is not his usual fully armored state. Instead, it is designed based on the scene at Weathertop from "The Fellowship of the Ring." WETA has created the Witch-King as he appears in "The Unseen Lands," featuring clear and terrifying facial contours, an exquisitely sculpted, magnificent robe, and a Morgul-blade held in his right hand. This is the form Frodo sees only after putting on the One Ring, making it a relatively rare Witch-King sculpt on the market.
This time, WETA will also release a limited edition with a translucent visual effect, which better conveys the ethereal nature of the Witch-King in the Unseen Lands – super cool!
